As Team Leader for Colombia of a multi-country European Union Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI)-funded "Circular Plastics in the Americas Program (CPAP)", I have:
● Led a 5-10 member multidisciplinary expert team in Colombia.
● Engaged key stakeholders in the Colombian plastics value chain to identify collaborative opportunities, aiming to promote a circular plastics economy.
● Provided technical guidance to EU delegations, advising on strategic alliances and planning activities in line with the EU's Plastics Strategy and the European Green Deal.
● Launched the first Colombian Circular Bio-plastics Cluster in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region, fostering a circular plastics industry.
● Organized conferences, field missions, working groups, webinars, and panels to promote knowledge exchange on plastics circularity.
● Provided technical assistance to Colombia's Ministry of Environment regarding Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the ban on single-use plastics.
● Developed a strategy to address plastic waste prevention and management in the Amazon River Basin, enabling trans-boundary cooperation to protect the river from plastic pollution.
● Facilitated technology transfer to encourage sustainable plastics production and consumption, coordinating bio-plastics pilot projects in Bogotá and Medellín.
